Publication Ethic
Minang Bioscience Journal (MBJ) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. The journal follows established ethical principles in scholarly publishing and expects all authors, editors, reviewers, and other parties involved in the publication process to uphold honesty, transparency, responsibility, and respect for intellectual property.
MBJ does not tolerate plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, manipulation of research results, or any other form of academic misconduct. All submitted manuscripts are expected to represent original work and must comply with applicable ethical standards in research and publication.
1. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for ensuring that:
- The submitted manuscript is original and has not been published elsewhere or submitted simultaneously to another journal.
- All data and research findings are presented accurately and honestly.
- The manuscript does not contain plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data.
- All sources and works of other researchers are properly cited and acknowledged.
- All individuals who have made significant contributions to the research are appropriately listed as authors.
- All listed authors have made substantial contributions to the research and have approved the final version of the manuscript.
- Any potential conflicts of interest are disclosed to the Editor.
- Appropriate ethical approval is obtained when research involves humans, animals, or other subjects requiring ethical consideration.
- Any significant errors discovered after publication are promptly reported to the Editor.
2. Responsibilities of Editors
Editors are responsible for:
- Evaluating manuscripts objectively based on their academic quality, originality, relevance, and scientific contribution.
- Maintaining confidentiality throughout the editorial and review process.
- Selecting appropriate and qualified reviewers for submitted manuscripts.
- Ensuring that manuscripts are handled fairly without discrimination based on nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, religion, ethnicity, or other personal characteristics.
- Making editorial decisions independently and based on academic and ethical considerations.
- Identifying and addressing potential conflicts of interest.
- Taking appropriate action when suspected cases of plagiarism, research misconduct, or publication malpractice are identified.
3. Responsibilities of Reviewers
Reviewers are expected to:
- Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and constructively.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all information contained in manuscripts under review.
- Evaluate manuscripts based on scientific quality, originality, methodology, validity, and relevance.
- Provide clear and constructive comments to assist authors in improving their manuscripts.
- Notify the Editor of any potential conflict of interest before accepting a review assignment.
- Not use unpublished information obtained through the review process for personal or professional advantage.
- Notify the Editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or other forms of academic misconduct.
4. Plagiarism and Academic Misconduct
MBJ considers plagiarism and other forms of academic misconduct to be serious violations of publication ethics. Submitted manuscripts may be screened using appropriate plagiarism detection tools.
Academic misconduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Plagiarism;
- Self-plagiarism;
- Fabrication or falsification of data;
- Duplicate or redundant publication;
- Unauthorized manipulation of research results;
- Improper attribution of authorship;
- Citation manipulation; and
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest.
When academic misconduct is suspected or confirmed, MBJ may take appropriate actions, including rejection of the manuscript, withdrawal or retraction of a published article, notification of the relevant institution, and other actions considered necessary.
5. Conflicts of Interest
Authors, Editors, and Reviewers must disclose any financial, personal, professional, or institutional relationships that could influence the objectivity of the research, review, or editorial decision.
Any potential conflict of interest should be communicated to the Editor as soon as it is identified.
6. Research Ethics
Authors conducting research involving human participants, animals, biological materials, or other subjects requiring ethical approval must comply with relevant ethical standards and regulations. Where applicable, authors should provide information regarding approval from an appropriate ethics committee or institutional review board.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that research involving human participants has appropriate informed consent and that the privacy and confidentiality of participants are adequately protected.
7. Corrections and Retractions
MBJ is committed to maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the published scholarly record. If significant errors are identified after publication, the journal may publish a correction or other appropriate editorial notice.
Articles may be retracted when there is clear evidence of serious errors, research misconduct, plagiarism, unethical research, or other circumstances that substantially undermine the validity or integrity of the published work.
8. Editorial Independence
Editorial decisions are based on the academic quality, originality, relevance, and ethical standards of the manuscript. Editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial interests, political considerations, personal relationships, or other external pressures.
MBJ is committed to ensuring a fair, transparent, and ethical publication process for all contributors.

By submitting a manuscript to Minang Bioscience Journal (MBJ), authors acknowledge their responsibility to comply with the journal's publication ethics and editorial policies. Editors and reviewers are likewise expected to uphold the principles of confidentiality, fairness, objectivity, academic integrity, and professional responsibility.
