Article Processing Charge
Minang Bioscience Journal (MBJ) is an open-access journal committed to providing free and unrestricted access to its published scientific articles. To support the costs associated with editorial management, peer review, copyediting, typesetting, online publication, digital preservation, and journal administration, MBJ may charge an Article Processing Charge (APC) for accepted manuscripts.
1. Article Processing Charge
The APC is charged only for manuscripts that have successfully completed the peer review process and have been formally accepted for publication.

The APC does not influence the editorial or peer review decision. Manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of their scientific quality, originality, relevance, and compliance with the journal's editorial and publication ethics policies.
2. No Submission Fee
MBJ does not charge a submission fee. Authors are not required to pay any fee when submitting a manuscript for consideration.
Payment is only applicable after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication, according to the journal's applicable APC policy.
3. What the APC Covers
The APC may cover the costs associated with:
- Editorial and administrative processing;
- Peer review management;
- Copyediting and proofreading;
- Article formatting and typesetting;
- Online publication;
- DOI registration and article identification, where applicable;
- Digital archiving and preservation;
- Website and journal platform maintenance; and
- Long-term accessibility of published articles.
4. Waiver and Discount Policy
MBJ recognizes that APCs may present financial challenges for some authors. Therefore, the journal may consider full or partial APC waivers or discounts in certain circumstances.
Requests for a waiver or discount should be submitted to the Editor before or during the submission process, together with a brief explanation of the financial circumstances.
The decision to grant a waiver or discount is made independently of the editorial and peer review process and will not influence the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript.
5. Payment Procedure
For manuscripts that have been accepted for publication, the corresponding author will receive information regarding the applicable APC and payment procedure from the Editorial Team.
Authors should not make payments to individuals or accounts that are not officially associated with Minang Bioscience Journal (MBJ).
6. Refund Policy
Once the publication process has commenced, APC payments are generally non-refundable. However, exceptional cases may be considered by the Editor, particularly in circumstances involving administrative errors or other issues determined to be the responsibility of the journal.
7. Transparency
MBJ is committed to maintaining transparency regarding publication charges. Any applicable APC, waiver, discount, or other publication-related fee will be clearly communicated to authors.
Payment of an APC does not guarantee acceptance or publication. All manuscripts must successfully pass the journal's editorial and peer review processes before publication.
8. Financial Independence
The payment of an APC has no influence on editorial decisions. Editors and reviewers are expected to evaluate manuscripts independently and objectively without consideration of the authors' ability or willingness to pay publication charges.
